Lovely late breakfast with a nice cosy sitting space. The food itself was very good with very fresh fruits but the drinks were by far the highlight with some of the best coffee and hot chocolate I’ve ever had. 9/10
I may have finally found my Cardiff brunch spot. Milkwood in Pontcanna absolutely nails it. Big bright space with loads of natural light, retro gold signage and a buzzing, friendly atmosphere. Walk-ins only, but we got seated straight away even with the weekend crowd. There is seating inside, cosy corners at the back and plenty of space outside if the Welsh sun decides to show up. The Milkwood Breakfast is no joke. Sausage, bacon, poached eggs, toast, crispy hash browns, roasted tomato and buttery mushrooms, plus I added extra halloumi and garlic mushrooms. It nearly defeated me, but totally worth it. Big hearty portions, everything cooked properly and the ingredients actually taste fresh. The menu’s stacked with tempting options and there are plenty of veggie and vegan friendly choices too. I kept seeing the buttermilk chicken pancakes landing on other tables so they’re firmly on my list for next time. The drinks? Game-changing. Best iced latte I’ve had since landing in Cardiff. Smooth, balanced and exactly what my caffeine-deprived self needed to rejoin society. Their iced tea also knocked it out of the park. Super refreshing, fragrant and ideal after a good stomp through Pontcanna’s parks. Staff were lovely, efficient, and made the whole experience feel easy. Bonus points for being easy on the eye too, just an observation. Between the cracking food, chilled community vibe and proper coffee, Milkwood’s officially my new go-to.
One of my favourite brunch spots in Cardiff, such a delicious selection with wonderful, attentive staff and a bright, fresh interior. I loved the chicken waffle and will definitely be back soon to try something new!
My boyfriend and I visited cardiff last week. We decided to go to Milkwood for breakfast, as we had been recommended to give it a try. My boyfriend had the breakfast bun, and I had a full English breakfast. The food was amazing, and the chef brought our food out to us. We would definitely recommend it to others and when we go back to Cardiff we will be going here again. Lovely staff, great food
Great breakfast options, some really banging choices. Went for the waffles and shackshuka. The waffles were proper with proper syrup and the shackshuka was perfectly done. The little sitting area in the back bit is beautiful in the morning as you get the morning sun coming through to the garden area My partner is a bit of a coffee nerd and he said it was the best one he had in a Looong time so do with that what you will Didn't struggle for a table either but we were there quite early on.
